Kerr McQuillan is the Leading Drummer of the Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band and the current World Solo Drumming Champion. A two-time Adult World Champion, Kerr is widely recognised as one of the leading figures in pipe band drumming.

Kerr made history in 2023 by becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Adult World Solo Drumming Championship on his first attempt. He has since gone on to secure a second world title. Prior to his adult success, Kerr enjoyed success in the juvenile ranks, winning seven world titles across tenor and snare between 2012 and 2022. He also holds the record for World Solo Tenor victories and famously won both the tenor and snare world titles on the same day in 2016.

Appointed Leading Drummer of Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia at the end of 2022, Kerr has led the drum corps through a strong period of success. In his first seasons, the band claimed major championship titles including the UK Pipe Band Championships (2023), World Pipe Band Championships (2023), and British Pipe Band Championships (2024). He also led the corps to its first European Pipe Band drumming title in over a decade, winning in 2024, before going on to secure the prestigious Champion of Champions title in 2025.

A product of the Boghall & Bathgate youth system, Kerr was taught by Tom Brown MBE, Gordon Brown, and Stephen McQuillan.

Some other notable solo drumming achievements include, three Adult Scottish Championships, two European Championships, the 2024 Intercontinental Championship, and the 2024 British Solo Drumming Championship. His achievements have earned him the Pipes|Drums Drummer of the Year award in both 2023 and 2025.

Outside of competition, Kerr is teaches pipe band drumming at The High School of Glasgow and Dollar Academy. He is also a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, holding a Bachelor of Music degree in Traditional Music.

In addition to his pipe band career, Kerr is a member of Drums n’ Roses, performing internationally at iconic venues such as Sony Music Hall and Times Square. He has also travelled extensively as an instructor, delivering workshops across Europe and North America, including in Brittany, the United States, Switzerland, Spain, and Germany.
